Regional Hospital of Scranton
Regional Hospital of Scranton is a 186-bed, acute care hospital nationally recognized for quality especially in the areas of orthopedics, robotic surgery, cardiac care, stroke care and neurology. Offering all private rooms, Regional is the first hospital in Pennsylvania to earn all four orthopedic certifications by The Joint Commission - hip fracture, and knee, hip and shoulder replacement as well as advanced certification.
Heart and Vascular Institute
Commonwealth Health Heart & Vascular Institute in Scranton centralizes all cardiac-related procedures into one modern area.
Regional provides a wide range of cardiovascular care, from an array of diagnostic and interventional cardiology to open-heart surgery and rehabilitation. Our physicians specialize in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases of the heart and blood vessels.
The Valve Clinic offers the latest in heart valve replacement technology including transcatheter aortic valve replacement, or TAVR. This technology allows interventional cardiologists to replace a diseased aortic valve through a minimally invasive procedure without open-heart surgery and without surgical removal of the non-functioning valve.
Regional's cardiac catheterization lab was the first in the nation to be accredited by the American College of Cardiology. The hospital's designation as an Accredited Chest Pain Center by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care means our cardiac care team has successfully completed a rigorous process to ensure life-saving care when every minute counts. Taking the steps necessary to achieve these prestigious accreditations is part of our commitment to making a difference in the lives of our families, friends and neighbors.
Stroke Center
The Stroke Center was developed to ensure that stroke victims in our region have more than a fighting chance against this debilitating and deadly condition. We offer skilled professionals, sophisticated technology and proven experience and we strive to provide stroke patients with the absolute finest stroke care and treatment options available.
Robotics
This program gives our surgeons the technology to provide patients more options and achieve better outcomes, while providing an alternative to both traditional open surgery and conventional laparoscopy. In robotic surgery, the surgeon's hands are at the controls of a high-tech robotic platform that enables them to perform even the most complex and delicate procedures through very small incisions.
Lung Cancer Treatment
Robotic-assisted navigational bronchoscopy allows the specialist to use natural openings in the body, like the mouth, and substantially decreases risk of collapsing the lung. Compared to previous navigational bronchoscopy platforms, the flexibility and shape-sensing capabilities of the catheter increase diagnostic capabilities, enabling a more precise biopsy.
When used with lung cancer screening, this technology supports early diagnosis and staging of the lung cancer, often with just one minimally invasive procedure.
This technology is only available locally at Regional Hospital of Scranton. For more information, call 570-770-LUNG.
