Moses Taylor Hospital
Moses Taylor Hospital is a 214-bed, acute care hospital with more than 400 physicians on staff and a commitment to providing quality health care that is patient- and community-focused. As Lackawanna County's first choice for labor and delivery, Moses Taylor is known for its pediatric and neonatal care and was the first hospital in the nation to earn Perinatal Care Certification by The Joint Commission.
Moses Taylor is a Primary Stroke Center, an accredited Chest Pain Center and offers advanced endoscopy and navigational bronchoscopy.
Perinatal Certification
In 2015, Moses Taylor became the first hospital in the United States to earn the Perinatal Care designation by The Joint Commission. Perinatal refers to the care of mother and baby before, during and shortly after childbirth.
Family Birthing Suites
The refurbished Family Birthing Suites at Moses Taylor have earned the HealthGrades Maternity Care Excellence Award for three consecutive years, placing them in the top 10 percent in the nation.
The department has 24 private postpartum rooms, 11 private birthing suites and two dedicated C-section operating rooms. An OB/GYN physician is on staff 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The onsite Lactation Center helps new moms become accustomed to breastfeeding. Lactation consultants are available around the clock.
Pediatric Center of Excellence
Moses Taylor’s pediatric wing, which opened in 2014, brings much-needed specialty care to Northeastern Pennsylvania. The 18-bed unit is the first of its kind in the area, boasting a colorful décor and featuring a Ronald McDonald House lounge and play room. The unit is staffed by our board-certified pediatric hospitalists and advanced practice providers.
Level III NICU
Moses Taylor Hospital has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) within our Family Birthing Suites – with physicians and staff ready at a moment’s notice. The NICU is designed to enable more control of artificial and natural lighting, as well as significant noise reduction to lower an infant’s stress levels. Private rooms are uniquely designed to suit the needs of premature or critically ill newborns. Monitoring technology enables staff to continually observe every infant’s condition.
Stroke Center
The Joint Commission, in conjunction with the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, recognized Moses Taylor Hospital with Advanced Certification for a Primary Stroke Center, signifying the hospital’s dedication to fostering better outcomes for patients.
The hospital received the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association's Silver Plus Quality Achievement Award. Moses Taylor Hospital also received the American Heart Association Get with the Guidelines Stroke Silver Plus Award, Heart Failure.
Chest Pain Center
Moses Taylor received Full Chest Pain Center Accreditation from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SPCP), designating our hospital as one that has achieved a higher level of expertise in dealing with patients who arrive with symptoms of a heart attack.
Center of Excellence in Advanced Endoscopy
Moses Taylor is the first hospital in the Commonwealth Health system to offer endobronchial ultrasound services (EBUS) -- full on-site operative services including advanced endoscopy and endoscopic ultrasound and endobronchial ultrasound. EBUS is a less invasive technique that uses ultrasound along with bronchoscope to visualize airway wall and structures to diagnose and stage lung cancer and to determine if it has spread to other parts of the body.

Our senior mental health services and the HELP program assist elderly patients with issues related to aging, such as dementia and behavioral health.
The Moses Taylor radiology department is accredited in all services, including mammography, stereotactic breast biopsy, MRI, CT and nuclear medicine.
Moses Taylor is accredited by The Joint Commission and has a fully accredited pharmacy residency program.
