First Hospital Clinical Manager of the Year: Linda Goldner, MS LPC, Director of Social Services
An employee since 1983, Goldner took on the lead of completely revamping the First Hospital planning process from treatment teams to processes as well as the changes to the discharge compliance strategies to assure aftercare. Goldner resides in Swoyersville.
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Clinical Manager of the Year: Lisa Cernera, RNFA BSN, Director of Surgical Services
The Avoca resident has worked at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital since 2001 and was nominated for her ability to collaborate and work closely with physicians and their offices to effectively address major scheduling conflicts. She provided a workable solution that all surgeons embraced.
First Hospital Non-Clinical Manager of the Year: Mandi Carmichael, RHIT HACP, HIM Director
Carmichael took over at First Hospital in 2011 and this year, the Wapwallopen resident added Community Counseling as one of her areas of responsibility. This department had turnover of a long-time knowledgeable staff and Carmichael assessed each position and restructured the department to run more efficiently.
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Non-Clinical Manager of the Year: &nbnbsp;Michael Peck, Supervisor of Biomedical Engineering
Peck, who resides in Wilkes-Barre and is a 29-year employee of Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, was instrumental in dealing with the Mindray monitoring system. He helped make the General Hospital nurses and telemetry techs feel comfortable with the equipment. He also solved several long-standing issues and increased the department's monthly PM Completion rate from 90 to 99.5 percent.
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital Employee of the Year: Joseph Piskorik, Aide, Patient Transport
Piskorik's kindness to patients has been a constant since he began working at General in 1985, and one patient in particular made note. She sent Cor Catena, CEO of Commonwealth Health and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital a letter of praise for his genuine kindness as she left the hospital. The woman's husband shook Piskorik's hand as the couple was leaving and tried leaving him a monetary gift but Piskorik, of West Wyoming, politely declined and asked the man to light a candle instead for his wife's good health.
