Tyler Memorial Hospital Achieves 5 Stars

TUNKHANNOCK, PA - Commonwealth Health Tyler Memorial Hospital is proud to announce it has received a 5 STAR rating, the highest achievement level possible, from CMS (Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services). CMS developed the program to help consumers make more informed decisions by giving them a way to compare hospitals based on quality ratings.
Hospitals report data to CMS, which is the federal agency that runs the Medicare program, through the Hospital Inpatient Quality Reporting (IQR) Program and the Hospital Outpatient Quality Reporting (OQR) Program. Rating ranges from 1 to 5 stars. The more stars, the better a hospital performed on the available quality measures. The quality components taken into consideration by CMS include mortality, safety of care, re-admission, patient’s experience, effectiveness of care and efficient use of medical imaging. The most common overall hospital rating is 3 stars.
“The 5 STAR rating is a true testament to the hard work and dedication of our leadership, nursing staff, physicians and employees who give 100% effort daily”, said Ann Marie Stevens, CEO. “We believe care should be delivered timely and appropriately with compassion to Every Patient, Every Time; and the 5 STAR rating confirms our commitment. We are very proud of this accomplishment.”
