Penn State Hershey Providing Pediatric Hospitalist Service at Moses Taylor
10/22/2014
Scranton, Pa. (Oct. 23, 2014) – Commonwealth Health and Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital have entered into a partnership regarding pediatric hospitalist service at Moses Taylor Hospital.
Through the agreement, Penn State Hershey pediatric hospitalists will provide round-the-clock coverage for admission, treatment and consultation for hospitalized children – infants through 18 years of age.
The partnership provides an opportunity to bring the advanced care of Penn State Hershey to the children and families of northeastern Pennsylvania, allowing Moses Taylor to provide dedicated inpatient pediatric care close to home.
The Penn State pediatric hospitalists communicate with the child’s pediatrician or family doctor on the child’s progress.
Pediatric health care professionals from Moses Taylor will be on hand from 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 30 at Malloween at The Mall at Steamtown. This mall-sponsored event provides a safe trick-or-treating venue for children. A hospitalist and pediatric nurse will be on hand to meet with parents and guardians and to answer questions about the partnership.
Representatives of Moses Taylor and Commonwealth Health Emergency Services will provide children with treats.
Services provided to pediatric patients at Moses Taylor Hospital include:
-
High-quality care for infants and children hospitalized for various medical conditions
-
Consultations for hospitalized infants and children being cared for by other doctors
