Neurologist, Headache Specialist Joins Commonwealth Health

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (April 16, 2018) – Philip V. Savia Jr., M.D., has joined Commonwealth Health Physician Network and will practice neurology at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Dr. Savia specializes in headache medicine and will see patients in the Waterfront Complex, 670 S. River St., Suite 203, Plains Township.
A graduate of St. Georges University School of Medicine, Grenada, West Indies, he completed a pediatric residency at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, N.J., and a neurology residency at the University of Utah Medical Center, Salt Lake City.
He is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with a sub-specialty board certification in headache medicine by the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties.
He will perform electromyography in his office. EMG is a diagnostic procedure to assess the health of muscles and the nerve cells that control motor neurons which transmit electrical signals that cause muscles to contract.
