Heart & Vascular Institute at Regional Hospital Earns National Award

SCRANTON, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2018) – The Commonwealth Health Heart & Vascular Institute at Regional Hospital of Scranton has been named an inaugural winner of the HeartCARE Center Award, a national distinction of excellence, by the American College of Cardiology. The award was established two months ago to recognize cardiovascular programs that provide high-quality care.
Regional Hospital is one of four hospitals nationally to earn the distinction and the only one in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The other Pennsylvania hospital being honored is Chester County Hospital-Penn Medicine in West Chester. The four facilities were recognized in a recent edition of U.S. News & World Report. This award is given to cardiovascular programs that demonstrate a commitment to comprehensive process improvement, disease and procedure-specific accreditation, professional excellence and community engagement.
This latest accolade is added to a list of honors for the hospital’s cardiovascular program including:
- First in the Nation, Cardiovascular Center of Excellence by the American Heart Association
- First in the Nation, Cardiac Cath Lab accredited by The Joint Commission
- American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation
- Accredited Chest Pain Center, Primary PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care
- American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® Heart Attack Receiving Center Accreditation
- Atrial Fibrillation with EPS Accreditation (American College of Cardiology)
