Dr. Patricia Ihnat Appointed Chairman of Emergency Services at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital

Wilkes-Barre, PA (February 12, 2014) – Wilkes-Barre native Dr. Patricia Ihnat has been appointed Chairman of the Department of Emergency Services at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital. Dr. Ihnat has practiced at the facility since October 2011.
Dr. Ihnat was born in Wilkes-Barre to parents Carl and Mary Catherine Ihnat. She attended Bishop Hoban High School, and later received her bachelor’s degree from Penn State University and her medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, Philadelphia.
She completed her residency at the Wyoming Valley Family Medicine Residency Program, Kingston. Dr. Ihnat is board-certified in both emergency medicine and family medicine.
Dr. Ihnat is the spouse of cardiologist Dr. Farook Shroff.
The Emergency Department at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital is a 38-bed unit, including seven psychiatric/detox beds and 31 beds capable of handling any patient. The department treats more than 60,000 emergency patients every year.
