Commonwealth Health Professionals Participate in Career Fair

TUNKHANNOCK, Pa. (Aug. 10, 2018) – Commonwealth Health Tyler Memorial Hospital and Commonwealth Health Emergency Medical Services participated in the recent, four-day Health Care Career Experience sponsored by the Northern Tier Industry& Education Consortium at the Susquehanna County Career and Technology Center. This hands-on summer experience educates high school students on careers in the health care industry. Students visited Tyler Memorial Hospital and witnessed the landing of Commonwealth One, our critical care helicopter that serves an 11-county area in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Members of the flight crew talked to students talked about in-flight critical care. The students saw the interior of an ambulance and spoke with the paramedic and EMT on duty about their respective careers and toured numerous departments at the hospital. They earned “Stop the Bleed” certification after attending a class with Gail Malloy, R.N., L.N.C., from the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital trauma center, and Ted Kross, director of emergency services at Tyler.
