Commonwealth Health Physician Network Welcomes New OB/GYN to Plains

Commonwealth Health Physician Network recently announced that Michael Socher, M.D., has joined the health network. In his new role, Dr. Socher will provide obstetrical and gynecological services at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Dr. Socher is a board-certified obstetrician and gynecologist with over 20 years of experience specializing in obstetrical and postpartum care, high-risk pregnancy care, infertility, incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse and minimally invasive surgery.
Services include:
- Routine annual exams and preventive screenings
- Obstetrical care (high-risk and low-intervention)
- Vaginal delivery and Cesarean section
- Contraception and family planning
- Evaluation and treatment of menstrual and infertility problems
- Treatment of endometriosis, fibroids and pelvic pain
- Menopause management
- Treatment of vaginal infections
- Incontinence evaluation, management and treatment
- Treatment of overactive bladder
- Treatment of painful bladder syndrome (BPS)
Dr. Socher received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania, and completed his residency at Tripler Army Medical Center, Hawaii.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army where he achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. During his military career, he received multiple awards and honors including a Bronze Star Medal. An accomplished academic researcher, Dr. Socher has been published in peer-reviewed journals on topics including contraception, hysterectomy and trauma during pregnancy.
