Commonwealth Health Hospitals to Host Community Health Fair

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. (Jan. 10, 2019) – Commonwealth Health hospitals will open their doors to the public Jan. 24 as the health care network holds a community health fair.
Events that include screenings, informational tables, demonstrations, health talks and tours will be held from noon to 5 p.m. at the network’s five acute care hospitals.
The health fair is open to the public free of charge.
Representatives of the Gift of Life program will be available at all hospitals to discuss the organ donor program and to distribute informational packets.
Also available at all hospitals will be information on the latest in stroke care and the stroke telemedicine program, collaboration between Commonwealth Health and Jefferson Neuroscience Network.
Regional Hospital of Scranton and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital will offer hands-on demonstrations of their newest robotics and will provide information on robotic-assisted surgery.

Berwick Hospital, 701 E. 16th St., Berwick, and the adjacent Berwick Retirement Village:
- Health seminars in the multipurpose room on flu prevention, healthy eating, digestive health, hypertension and women’s health
- Blood pressure screenings
- Informational tables on wound healing, the Gift of Life program, surgical services, behavioral health, online scheduling, MDSave, stroke and emergency heart attack care
- Meet and greet new providers
Moses Taylor Hospital, 700 Quincy Ave., Scranton:
- Informational tables on stroke, orthopedics, behavioral health, physical therapy and occupational therapy
- Updates on the OB/GYN and pediatrics departments including information on lactation
- Information on the emergency department and Commonwealth Health Emergency Medical Services
Regional Hospital of Scranton, 746 Jefferson Ave., Scranton:
- Information tables on stroke, orthopedics, physical therapy, occupational therapy
- Updates on the latest procedures available at the Heart & Vascular Institute
- Healthy cooking demonstrations by food service department
- Update on the emergency department and Commonwealth Health Emergency Medical Services
Tyler Memorial Hospital, 5950 State Route 6, Tunkhannock:
- Informational tables on stroke, orthopedics, OccuCare
- Update on the emergency department and Commonwealth Health Emergency Medical Services
- Blood pressure screenings
Wilkes-Barre General Hospital, 575 N. River St., Wilkes-Barre:
- Updates on neurosurgery, orthopedic surgery and bariatric surgery
- Display by the hospital’s trauma team with trauma prevention tips
- Information on behavioral health, First Hospital, the Crisis Response & Recovery Center and Community Counseling Services
- A recruitment table staffed by human resources
- Nutritional demonstrations by the food service department
