Commonwealth Health Announces CEO for Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton

Commonwealth Health has named Michael P. Curran the new CEO of Moses Taylor Hospital and Regional Hospital of Scranton effective March 28, 2022.
Curran has more than 20 years of experience as a hospital and health care system executive, most recently serving as the vice president of operations for the east region of Prospect Medical Holdings. In this role, he has been responsible for the operations of nine acute care facilities. Prior to this, he held executive positions at Crozer Health including the system chief operating officer, president, and chief integration officer.
“Michael is the best candidate to emerge from an extremely strong field of candidates from across the country and is the right fit for our Scranton hospitals," said Douglas G. Allen, chair, Moses Taylor Hospital Board of Trustees.
Dr. Mary Jane K. DiMattio, chair, Regional Hospital of Scranton Board of Trustees added, “His diverse experience, combined with his vision and commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare, will serve our community well.”
Accomplishments garnered at facilities during Curran’s leadership include being named a Thompson 100 Top Hospitals facility and best-in-system patient and employee Gallup survey results. He has developed and managed strategy and operations for a number of clinical service lines, including cardiovascular services, orthopedic joint replacement, and interventional and diagnostic medical imaging. During his tenure at Crozer Health, he was the lead system executive in the development of an innovative neurosciences program, bringing comprehensive stroke and brain surgery interventions to Delaware County for the first time.
Curran holds a bachelor’s degree in biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York, and a master’s degree in health administration from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and looks forward to becoming an active member of the Scranton community.
