Commonwealth Health Announces CEO Change In Scranton
8/28/2016

Effective Sept. 19, Justin Davis will assume the role of CEO of Regional Hospital while retaining the CEO roles for Moses Taylor Hospital and Commonwealth Health Emergency Medical Services.

Regional Hospital of Scranton CEO Brooks Turkel is being promoted to a new professional opportunity with Community Health Systems that will take him from the Scranton community.
“As we look to the future and continue our efforts to provide the Scranton community with the best quality clinical care, we believe that having one individual oversee both hospitals will allow the facilities, their physicians and staffs to work more closely together as we look to the future,” Catena said. “I extend my gratitude to Brooks for his dedicated service to Regional Hospital and wish him well in his new venture. Under his leadership, Regional Hospital became a leader in orthopedic care while continuing to expand the facility’s cardiology program.”
All other executive leadership positions, medical staffs and boards of trustees will remain in place.
Moses Taylor will continue to develop its nationally recognized women’s and children’s services as well as its commitment to senior behavioral health care. Regional Hospital will continue to develop and build the Commonwealth Health Heart & Vascular Institute at Regional that will grow the hospital’s award-winning cardiology program.
Both hospitals will continue the new initiative to develop an integrated cancer network improving cancer care for the community. Emergency services, orthopedic services, and other service lines will continue at each hospital.
“Each hospital has a respected legacy of care and provides unique services that benefit patients,” Doug Allen, R.Ph, chairman of the Moses Taylor Hospital Board of Trustees, said. “The perspective Justin has gained leading Moses Taylor and developing Commonwealth Health EMS will help him lead both hospitals in the common goal of improving health care for our community.”
Mary Jane K. DiMattio, Ph.D, R.N., chairwoman of the Regional Hospital Board of Trustees, offered her appreciation to Turkel for his service.
“We thank Brooks for his years of service in our community and congratulate him on an exciting new professional opportunity,” she said. “I am confident that he leaves Regional Hospital well positioned for continued excellence.”
Justin, his wife, and two young daughters live in Clarks Summit. He is active and engaged in the community, serving as the United Way campaign chairman this year as well as a board member of the Scranton Chamber of Commerce, Ronald McDonald House of Scranton, Leadership Wilkes-Barre and United Way of Lackawanna and Wayne Counties.
