Commonwealth Health Sponsors Local Screening of 'Heart of Nuba'

SCRANTON, Pa. (Oct. 11, 2018) -- Commonwealth Health will sponsor a free showing of the acclaimed documentary, “The Heart of Nuba,” at 7 p.m. Oct. 24 at the Scranton Cultural Center, 420 N. Washington Ave., Scranton.
Dubbed “The Film That Became a Movement,” this documentary tells the story of an American physician’s unwavering faith and his enduring love for a forgotten people. The focus is New York native Dr. Thomas Catena who has been practicing medicine in Gidel in the Nuba Mountains of Sudan since 2008. This captivating film follows Dr. Catena as he courageously serves the needs of the innocent men, women and children who endure the relentless bombing by an indicted war criminal, Omar Al-Bashir. Dr. Catena is the brother of Cornelio Catena, CEO of Commonwealth Health and Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
The screening is open to the public free of charge. A reception will be held at 6 p.m. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 570-552-7496.
