Commonwealth Health Limits Visitors and Hospital Entrances to Protect Against Novel Coronavirus Spread

(March, 2020) Our hospitals and clinics are taking proactive steps to prepare for the protection of our patients, caregivers and the community. We continue to monitor updates on COVID-19 from the CDC. We want to assure you we remain alert and ready to provide care as necessary.
For the safety of our patients and caregivers, new visitor restrictions are in place and entrances have been limited at all hospitals.
No visitors will be permitted in any hospitals except under special circumstances for inpatient facilities.
These circumstances include:
- ER (1 adult* visitor allowed)
- Patient with an end-of-life situation
- Patient on the labor and delivery unit (1 adult* visitor allowed)
- Pediatrics and NICU (parents allowed)
- Patient requiring informed clinical authorization support, i.e. informed consent (1 adult* visitor allowed)
- Patient requiring discharge support (1 adult* visitor allowed)
First Hospital and Berwick Retirement Village
- No inpatient visitation will be permitted. (No exceptions)
Outpatient Procedures
- One adult* visitor allowed
Outpatient Clinics and Sites
- One adult* visitor allowed
Commonwealth Health is asking people who are sneezing, coughing, running a fever or experiencing a runny nose or other respiratory symptoms to refrain from visiting patients at any of its hospitals or clinics.
