Berwick Volunteers Plan 6th Annual Mammothon
10/6/2017
BERWICK, Pa. (Oct. 6, 2017) – Commonwealth Health will conduct its sixth annual Mammothon from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Oct. 12. Volunteers from the six hospitals and related clinics will make calls to women who are past due for their annual mammograms, offering to schedule these critical screenings or to give a gentle reminder about the importance of yearly mammograms.
Last year, 131 volunteers made 5,164 calls to women, scheduling 781 mammograms or more than 135 percent of the systemwide goal of 577.
Participating volunteers are from Berwick Hospital Center, Moses Taylor Hospital, Regional Hospital of Scranton, Tyler Memorial Hospital, Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and the Diagnostic Imaging Center. The Mammothon is part of the health care network’s observance of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
